There's now only 2 weeks to go until the 'What's for Tea Barnsley?' competition closes on the 20th December.
All cooking abilities are welcome, as long as the recipes are easy, affordable and nutritious. Entries need to be submitted by an adult aged 18+. Please include the ingredients, a picture of your meal and why you like to make this recipe with your submission.

Barnsley have launched an exciting new project to improve children's
health and wellbeing. It has three elements that will work to
improve children's health and wellbeing. The Children and Young
People public health team have been working with schools across the
borough to develop these useful resources.

Level 2 Award in Youth Work Practice
A great opportunity has arisen for members of the community to undertake a fully funded Youth Work Qualification.
The course covers:-
- Engaging and communicating with young people
- Theory of Youth Work
- Young People Development
- Safeguarding
- Group Work
- Challenging Behaviour
- Anti-Discriminatory Practice
- Work based and reflective practice in Youth Work
- Careers and further study
The course blends the academic and practical, as well as portfolio work learners must also undertake practical experience in a youth work setting, such as youth/sports clubs, arts and community groups. Upon completion of the course you will receive a Level 2 award, you will also be given the opportunity to progress your learning to level 3 and above.
The primary career linked to this course is Youth Work. Youth Workers help young people to develop skills, confidence, resilience and positive attitudes to engagement, enabling them to reach their full potential. A qualification in Youth Work is also considered desirable for other career pathways such as schools, social care, youth offending, housing, community work and many more.
If you are in receipt of benefits the course is fully funded. However if you do not meet this criteria but are already working/volunteering with young people in the South Area then we may be able to secure funding for you to undertake the course.

This now means that from the volume of participants who have completed the course over the last two years the ones who wish to have their portfolios verified can have their hard work and achievements nationally recognised.
